Monopoly: Star Wars was released by Hasbro on October 31, 1997 and was originally played on MSN Gaming Zone. In 2001, long before Zone itself shutdown in 2006, Monopoly: Star Wars vanished and was never seen again on any other gaming service.. UNTIL NOW.

A huge amount of work has gone into it, but the Mac version now works fine with Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks), 10.10 (Yosemite), and 10.9 (El Capitan). The minimum version of Mac OS X required is now 10.4 (Tiger) instead of 10.3.9 (Panther).

Unfortunately the same can not be said of many of the Mac games themselves that no longer work on the newer versions of Mac OS X. That's outside of GameRanger's control.

Another amazing milestone: GameRanger now has 6 million registered members. Impressive considering these are all real users, not piggybacking off Facebook or an App Store.

This update also includes support for games on the Origin store. A big thanks to EA and Origin for their help transitioning these games over to GameRanger before the GameSpy shutdowns are completed. Thanks also to Ubisoft for their help with Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2.

The GameSpy server shutdowns have started to happen, but these ex-GameSpy games are now supported (more still coming):

• Stronghold 2
• Stronghold Legends

The dedicated server apps for the Serious Sam games are supported as well.

This update also adds support the dedicated server apps for Star Wars Battlefront II (swbf2sm.exe) and Halo (haloded.exe and haloceded.exe). Star Wars Battlefront II also now uses the Internet-mode instead of the LAN-mode, which means much faster launching.

These two Men of War games are now supported by GameRanger (their GameSpy servers were due to shut down May 31):

• Men of War: Condemned Heroes
• Men of War: Vietnam

This update also stops Star Wars Battlefront II from crashing if you don't have an audio input device (eg. a microphone) plugged in. The bug is unrelated to GameRanger and happens in single player as well, but playing through GameRanger will now fix it.

The Halo 1 series for PC can now be played on GameRanger and won't suffer the fate of the server shutdowns next month:

While other gaming services drop like flies, GameRanger has now has over 5 million members!

2014 is going to be an exciting year.

Unfortunately, Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) removed a core networking library which prevents GameRanger from working at all. If you're able to, avoid upgrading for now if you want to keep playing.

A GameRanger update is being worked on, but this has required rewriting a significant percentage of the code. This is far more work and far more complicated than originally anticipated, so will take some time to complete.

This was previously announced within the GameRanger app's news broadcast system.

Neverwinter Nights 1 was another victim of the server shutdowns, but is back online with GameRanger:

Desert Combat was a very popular free add-on mod for Battlefield 1942 set in Iraq during the first Gulf War.

The co-op fun continues this week with Torchlight II multiplayer now supported on GameRanger.

Borderlands 2 is now on GameRanger for a much quicker and easier way to play with your friends in this incredibly fun co-op game.

If you've already started playing previously by other more clumsy methods, you can continue your existing saved games in GameRanger instead as well.

Seems like the official servers for a number of games have just been shut down without warning.

SWAT 4, Empire Earth II, and FlatOut 2 were among those affected.

SWAT 4 and Empire Earth II were already supported in GameRanger, and now FlatOut 2 is also supported so that those players will have a new home.

If you know anyone that plays any of these affected games, or if you know any of the communities and clans for these games, let them know that they can come to GameRanger. These are all great games, and there's no reason to let them die off now.

GameRanger has teamed up with Paradox Interactive to support their newest strategy games, For the Glory, and Arsenal of Democracy.

Borderlands has just been added to GameRanger. This should solve some of the online co-op problems people have been having with the built-in service.

That also marks a total of 600 PC games supported by GameRanger now almost a year since the PC launch of GameRanger in November 2008. Plenty more games still to come!

A bunch of new supported games have been added in the last month. The most recent additions are Majesty 2 and Order of War. Get playing!
